WHEN ONE CHANCE REMARK  CHANGED LADIES OUTFITS.

There was this friend of mine. 'Was' because I am not sure where he is. We were class mates in PG college. A little background will not be out of place. He was working as a goods clerk in the Railways.  Our college shift was 7 to 10 in the morning. After college he would go to work. He fell in love with neighbor's daughter, proposed and married her against her parents wishes.  All his hopes of hefty dowry fell through. Not only that, since she was the only child, she was going to inherit her parent's wealth, this also went fut,  as the parents disowned her.

She was a teacher in a college and he also wanted to be in the same profession so that they could stay at one place. His Railway job was transferable.  That's why he wanted to do PG. His perseverance paid and he joined as a lecturer in a college. After college we lost on each other.

His wife was good looking and fashionable. He would narrate her shopping spree and his following her in her shopping expeditions.  She would not buy a Saree till the salesman at the counter did not unfold all his stock. She would move from one shop to other and at times may not buy anything or buy the very one she saw for the first time at the first shop.

One day he told her - darling no one really cares what you wear. The only way you can draw attention is by dressing scantily or not at all. As you can guess she got furious and he had to sleep on couch for a month.

But somebody overheard him and happened to be a designer of ladies garments. He came out with blouses low from top and high from bottom, low cut sleeveless kurties, low skirts and leggie. All his designs needed less clothe,  less stitching and less money. In the bargain the clothiers  lost, the tailors lost but the mosquitoes gained. Nonetheless, the fashion stayed and today the less she wears, the prettier she looks or so she thinks. There has been lot of improvement in competitive designing for ladies aiming at exposing front and back cleavage.

One chance remark can change the world.

All his designs needed less clothe,  less stitching and less money. In the bargain the clothiers  lost, the tailors lost but the mosquitoes gained.

That is NOT true!

The skimipier the attire, higher designing and tailoring costs! You always pay more for less cloth!

Today threadbare/ torn /old  jeans cost more!

And lest we forget, we in India are going to our roots.

Check all the sculptures of well endowed women.  covered with jewelry from head to toe and not a thread of cloth!

We knew how to make jewelry but not cloth!

Understood. One lady went to a clothe shop and asked for a quarter meter blouse piece. The shopkeeper said they do not sell less than one meter. So situations make people wise. Someone said one day painters will make huge money by painting human bodies in style.

Nobody can make a blouse in quarter meter! Not even for a child. Even jhablas for babies need more.

makeup people are already aplenty. Now Body painting is evolving as an art form. Ii had a video but have lost it. It was miraculous!
